The Singing Tree is now at 270 York St Albany
About us The Singing Tree Albany opened in February 1993 as a specialist in children's books and toys combined with an ABC Centre. The move to larger premises in 1998 gave us the space to extend our range of books to cover all areas of bookselling. We are members of Leading Edge Books which is a group of independent booksellers from all over Australia that work together to improve our service to our customers. We also supply school libraries throughout the south-west of Western Australia. In July 2007 we relocated to even larger premises on the corner of York St & Serpentine Rd.
Our name The Singing Tree is the title of a children's book by Kate Seredy written in 1939 about war-torn Yugoslavia. As all the noise of war fades, the one tree that remains standing 'sings' with the sounds of birds. The story brings a message of hope and renewal in a devastated world. We hope our shop can be a haven for readers in this busy world.
